In a tough away game at the Centene Community Ice Center, the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers were outplayed by the Lindenwood University Lions, with a final score of 10-2 on December 5th, 2025.
The Lions dominated the game from the start, outshooting the Gophers 55-17. Despite the valiant efforts of Gophers’ goalie, Owen Peterson, who made 25 saves, the Lions’ offensive onslaught was too much to handle.
The Gophers’ struggles were not limited to the defensive end. The powerplay unit was unable to capitalize on any of their three opportunities, while the Lions converted one of their three powerplay chances.
Gophers’ #21 Jack Sand managed to find the back of the net once, but it was Lions’ #27 Brett Robinson who stole the show with two goals.
The Gophers will have to regroup quickly as they face the Lions again on Saturday, December 6th at 3:30 pm CST at the Centene Community Ice Center. They will be looking to bounce back from this heavy loss and put up a stronger performance in the second game of this back-to-back series.
