In a disappointing turn of events, the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers fell to the Ohio State University Buckeyes with a final score of 4-1. Despite the Gophers outshooting the Buckeyes 38-26, they were unable to convert their opportunities into points on the board.
The Golden Gophers’ lone goal came from #11 Tyler Bishop. On the other side of the rink, Buckeyes’ #5 Ethan Bishara proved to be a significant roadblock, contributing two goals to his team’s victory.
The powerplay for both teams proved unfruitful. The Buckeyes had two powerplays but failed to score on either, while the Gophers had only one powerplay and also failed to capitalize on it.
In the goalie matchup, the Buckeyes’ Brandon Novabilski was a force to be reckoned with, saving 37 out of 38 shots. The Gophers’ Owen Peterson, while putting up a valiant effort, saved only 22 out of 26 shots.
The Gophers will now shift their focus to their next game away against Lindenwood University on Friday, December 5th at Centene Community Ice Center. They’ll be looking to bounce back from this tough loss and return to their winning ways. Stay tuned for more updates.
