The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers hockey team put on an impressive display on their home ice, defeating the University of Georgia Bulldogs 5-2 in a riveting match at the 3M Arena at Mariucci on September 19, 2025.

The Gophers dominated the game from the start, outshooting the Bulldogs 44 to 27. Despite the Bulldogs’ efforts, their goalie, Isaac Haugen, could only manage 39 saves against the relentless Gophers’ attack. On the other end of the ice, Owen Peterson, the stalwart between the pipes for the Gophers, put on a commendable performance, stopping 25 of the 27 shots he faced.

The powerplay was a non-factor in the game, with both teams failing to capitalize on their lone opportunities. The Bulldogs’ #16, Spencer Watson, managed to find the back of the net once, but that was not enough to sway the game in their favor.

The Gophers’ #4, Cav Bruner, was a standout player in the game, contributing with 2 assists. His performance was instrumental in securing the victory for the Gophers.

The Golden Gophers will look to carry this momentum into their next game, as they host the Bulldogs again at Ridder Arena on Saturday, September 20. The Gophers’ fans will certainly be hoping for a repeat of this impressive performance.
