The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers demonstrated their prowess once again on the ice, taking a decisive 4-1 victory over the Sault College Cougars. The game, which took place at the Northern Community Centre on January 30, 2026, saw the Gophers dominate in terms of both goals and shots.

The Gophers fired off an impressive 35 shots, compared to the Cougars’ 19. This aggressive offensive strategy paid off, with the Gophers scoring four times. Luke Myers, wearing jersey number 14 for the Gophers, was a standout player, netting two of the four goals.

On the defensive end, Gopher’s goalie Owen Peterson demonstrated his skill between the pipes, facing 19 shots and making 18 saves. This performance was a key factor in the Gophers’ victory, keeping the Cougars to just one goal, scored by Nick Jameus.

The Gophers also showed their strength during power plays, successfully scoring twice out of five opportunities. The Cougars, on the other hand, failed to capitalize on their two power plays.

The next game for the Gophers will be an away match against Sault College again, scheduled for Saturday, January 31 at the Northern Community Centre. If this game was any indication, the Gophers are in a strong position to continue their winning streak.
