The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers delivered an impressive performance on the ice yesterday, defeating the Lake Superior State University Lakers with a staggering 9-1 final score. The game took place at the Taffy Abel Arena and saw the Gophers taking control from the get-go.
The Golden Gophers outshot the Lakers, with 47 shots compared to the Lakers’ 33. Despite having three power plays, the Gophers didn’t manage to score during these advantages. The Lakers also had two power plays but failed to convert either into a goal.
Jackson Herbold, the Golden Gophers’ goalie, had a fantastic game, making 32 saves out of 33 shots. On the other hand, the Lakers’ Sean Piotrowicz faced a barrage of shots, saving 38 out of 47.
Luke Myers, wearing jersey #14 for the Golden Gophers, was the star of the match, scoring two goals. On the Lakers’ side, Christopher Kavanaugh (#12) managed to score the only goal for his team.
