The MD2 University of Minnesota Golden Gophers hockey team put up a valiant effort against the MD2 University of Saint Thomas Tommies in their Friday night match-up, but ultimately fell short. The Gophers had 36 shots on goal, but were unable to convert on any of their three power play opportunities. The Tommies, on the other hand, had 44 shots and were able to capitalize on one of their six power play opportunities.

The Gophers’ goalie, Owen Peterson, had a great night in net, making 33 saves on 44 shots. The Tommies’ goalie, Aidan Oconnor, also had a great night, making 33 saves on 36 shots.

Jack Sand had two assists for the Gophers, while Andrew Zimmerman scored the lone goal for the Tommies.

The Gophers put up a good fight, but the Tommies were able to come away with the win. The Gophers will look to bounce back next time they take the ice.
